No foolin, I might also mention that modern editions of THE HOLY BIBLE which contain the Books Called Apocrypha have the word APOCRYPHA printed on the spine of the Bible. It represents the best of what Schuyler can do with a Bible, and it will be an heirloom addition to any Bible library. This edition is the finest example of the RSV Ive ever had the pleasure of holding in my hands. The line spacing is relaxed, and the words of Christ are in black ink.The 28 gsm paper is nearly white, relatively opaque, and fairly matte. This edition includes the Apocrypha. Schuyler has produced the Westminster with all the bells and whistles you would expect in a premium edition - goatskin leather, edge-lined, stitched, art-gilt edges, and 4 thick ribbons. It wasnt a single-column bible, and I wasnt sure I would want to engage the text by writing and highlighting in such an expensive bible. This is a major ground breaking design. We have no equivalent in Catholic Bibles. There are very few current publications of the RSV. I am a Roman Catholic; there arent that many complete Catholic translations out there. As a bonus, in my opinion at least, its black letter. No foolin, The exquisite Schuyler Bible maps (with references printed on them) represent a new epitome of the art of Bible map cartography! The calfskin is sublime. Many people used this translation for ~ 40-50 years before arrival of the NRSV or ESV. The RSV predates gender modification of nouns/pronouns which are found in most modern translations. This Bible has many of the features that are standard in premium bibles: My first impression was mild surprise at the size of this edition (in length and width). It is excellent. Here is a side-by-side comparsion: The text is line-matched, meaning that the lines of text on each side of a page are aligned to minimize ghosting of text during reading. As far as additional features go, the RSV Quentel comes with three ribbons, cross-references, a glossary/concordance, and a set of Schuylers beautiful Bible maps.
